People are rushing in to watch The Tourist online, which stars A-list stars Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. It is directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who received an Academy Award for Best Foreign language Film in 2007 for the German film Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others.)
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has recently announced the nominees for the 2011 Golden Globe Awards and the remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer received 3 nods. Those who are planning to catch an amazing flick this holiday are surely going to watch The Tourist online. The film is nominated Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, which has been getting a lot of buzz. Except for having not-so-amazing reviews from critics, it has been involved in a bit of a controversy as it is coined as a thriller yet it was nominated in the comedy or musical category. Other nominees are Alice in Wonderland, Burlesque, The Kids are All Right, and Red.
The lead stars Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp also impressed the HFPA for their acting and got nominated for Best Actress and Bess Actor in a Comedy or Musical. They are arguably the biggest reasons why fans are going to watch The Tourist online. Jolie has already won three Golden Globes after six nominations (George Wallace, Gia, and Girl, Interrupted.) She will be up against Annette Bening, Anne Hathaway, Julianne Moore, and Emma Stone. She has also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Depp has been nominated 10 times and won once (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.) This year, he is set to go against himself for playing the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Other actors included in the list are Paul Giamatti, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Kevin Spacey.
