Been sick of all these rampant invasion of all these vampires and werewolves roaming around the media space that has been sucking our senses for these past few years? AMC is now bringing the zombies to the spotlight following the successes of 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Zombieland and Land of the Dead. But with even just six episodes on its first season, each week promises to bring a frighteningly delightful show. And following its success, AMC has greenlit a second season and has expanded the show to a full 13 episodes next year. The series is one of the short slings but award-winning shows by AMC which includes Mad Men, and Breaking Bad.
The post-apocalyptic horror TV series is based on the black-and-white comic book series created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. It was first published in 2003 by Image Comics and proved to be a huge success. It was a best-seller and has also won several awards including The Best Continuing Series at this year’s Eisner Awards. Eric Sunde of IGN commented, “This series is one of the best monthly comics available.” So, you should make it a point also to watch Walking Dead online.
The show tells the story of Country Sheriff Rick Grimes wakes up alone in an empty hospital. Later, along with a few remaining people are trying to survive following the aftermath of a zombie attack. The gang is led by Rick and they are traveling all over the United States in search of a safe haven away from the clutches of those flesh-eating zombies. But looking for a new home is not that easy as their situation grows grimmer and grimmer. In every turn, they are faced by unspeakable horrors and they are even pushed to the brink of insanity. Walking Dead premiered on AMC on October 31, 2010 with 70-minute episode. It was shown using the network’s Fearfest which also included several horror films in that genre. It was well-received by both the audience and critics alike. The pilot episode was seen by 5.3 million viewers on TV, making it the most-watched premiere episode of any AMC television series, and many more probably preferred to watch Walking Dead online. The show was also rated with Universal Acclaim on Metacritic with a rating of 85 out of 100 based on 25 reviews. Heather Havrilesky of Salon.com included the show on the “Don’t miss these 9 new TV shows” list and gave it an A. She then quipped, “A film-quality drama series about zombies? Somebody pinch me.”
The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, and Steven Yeunn. You have to watch Walking Dead online because it truly is a must-see.
